London vs. New York

For my first blog post, I’m diving into a classic debate—London vs. New York City. I recently visited NYC to see family on the West Coast (yes, quite the trek!) and, as someone based in London, I couldn’t help but compare the two. From iconic skylines to cultural vibes and daily life, each city brings something unique to the table.

In this post, I’ll explore the key differences and surprising similarities between London and NYC, from public transport and architecture to food scenes and street style.
Let me know in the comments: Which city do you prefer—and why? Feel free to share your favourite photo of either city!

NEW YORK

City built for the dreamers,
High up in the sky,
Where towers touch the morning light
And endless voices fly.

The hum of hope in subway cars,
A rhythm in the street,
Each step a bet, each glance a spark,
Where fate and fortune meet.

From Harlem’s heat to Brooklyn’s beat,
The city never tires—
A furnace fed by restless souls
And midnight’s burning fires.

So dare to fall, and dare to rise,
This place forgives no pause—
But if you leap with open eyes,
It greets you with applause.

LONDON

City built for the dreamers,
High up in the grey,
Where history whispers through the fog
And dusk outshines the day.

Cobblestones and whispered rain,
A poet’s quiet cry—
Where time runs deep beneath the streets
And past and present lie.

From Brixton’s pulse to Camden’s haze,
From Shoreditch lights to Mayfair’s glaze,
The city’s heart beats soft but strong,
A ballad dressed in haze.

Here minds collide in crowded pubs,
In silent undergrounds—
A place for thoughts too vast to hold,
Yet never outward-bound.

So walk the line, don’t chase the sun,
Let stillness be your guide—
For London isn’t loud with dreams,
It keeps them safe inside.
